The Harvard Graduate Music Forum invites proposals for its upcoming
conference: MusicTechnologyMedia. The conference will take place on
February 25, 2012, at the Harvard Music Department in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, and will conclude with a keynote address by Professor
Mark Katz of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Papers are welcomed on a broad range of topics related to music,
technology, and media, including, but not limited to:
Music and Television/Film
Music and the Internet
The mediation of music/Music as a mediator
The role of media and technology in composition today
Technological innovations in opera
Organology
The use of technology in the production, recording, and
reception of music
Musical Futurism, musique concrète, and electronic music
We especially encourage proposals on non-Western and non-20th century topics.
Proposals may be submitted to HarvardGMF2012 at gmail.com until January
15. Proposals should consist of an email with the applicants name,
email address, and institutional affiliation with a PDF or Word
attachment containing the papers title and an abstract of up to 350
words. In order to facilitate anonymous review, please do not include
names or contact information in the attachment. Accepted abstracts
will be announced February 1.
