[AMS-announce] ANNOUNCEMENT: Gretry, "Zemire et Azor" (and pre-concert lecture), New York, 6 May 2009

[Announcements for the AMS]

On Wednesday, May 6th at 8:00 pm, The American Classical Orchestra will present a semi-staged production of Grétry's Opéra-Comique, "Zémire et Azor," at the New York Society for Ethical Culture (2 West 64th Street at Central Park West). The pre-concert lecture given by Thomas Crawford and Gail M. Armondino will begin at 7:00.  This is most likely the New York premiere of the work. It may have been part of a concert series given at Fraunces Tavern in 1790, however.

The American Classical Orchestra is a New York-based period instrument ensemble specializing in works from the Baroque, Classic, and Early Romantic eras.
