Notice of Vacancy 
Position:  Scholar in Indian Music with a specialization in Sikh Music (Gurmat Sangeet) To fill the Sardarni Harbans Kaur Chair in Sikh Musicology.

Tenure Track 

Date of Appointment: To be determined 

Responsibilities:  Carry out and promote research into history, performance and traditions of Sikh music and its philosophy (Gurmat Sangeet). Teach at least one course per year in Sikh Music, its performance practice and tradition. Teach other courses in non-western music to satisfy cross-cultural requirements within the college’s distribution requirements. Teach additional elective courses in areas of research as needed. Total teaching load to be 6 s.h. (2 courses) per semester. 

Qualifications:  Completed Ph.D. in Music or Ethnomusicology (preferred) with a specialty in the Sikh musical tradition from both a scholarly and performance perspective. An established record of research, publication and other professional and scholarly activity focusing on the Sikh musical tradition and its performance, and a growing reputation within the scholarly community required.  Experience in college-level instruction is required (preference will be given to active performers). 

Rank and Salary:  Rank open, depending on qualifications. Tenure Track. Salary dependant upon experience and qualifications.
