The editorial board of Circuit, musiques contemporaines is pleased to annonce the publication of an issue which commemorates the death, in December 2007, of Karlheinz Stockhausen, a major figure in contemporary music.

"Stockhausen au Québec" studies the music of the composer from a variety of points of view which bear on the development of contemporary music in Quebec: the various visits Stockhausen made to Quebec (1958, 1964, 1971), the influence of his works on different populations of the Quebec music scene (electroacoustic, improvised music, jazz, rock, etc.), as well as the visits made by young Quebecois composers such as Claude Vivier and Walter Boudreau in the early 1970s to the Darmstadt summer courses, then the privileged domain of Stockhausen and his disciples.

The issue contains an unpublished radio interview with Stockhausen which was broadcast on Canadian radio in 1958, as well as photos taken by Bruno Massenet during Stockhausen's 1971 visits to Montreal (photos can be seen on Circuit website at http://www.revuecircuit.ca).
