VACANCY no. 2008/086: Chair in the History of Western Music to 1750, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, Department of History, Arts and Archeology, Université Libre de Bruxelles, with responsibilities beginning 1 October 2009.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 12 March 2009

REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in musicology. Thorough knowledge of the history of Western music from Antiquity to 1750.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES: Courses are taught in French and include a history of Western music open to all students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and a masters-level history of Western music for students in musicology and the history of art and architecture. Also a seminar for students in the 'premier cycle' and another for students in the 'deuxieme cycle,' the latter requiring transcriptions of music. A teaching assistant is available one half-day per week.
