The annual meeting of the Israeli Musicological Society will commence on Sunday, 12 July, at Bar Ilan University, and will continue on Monday, 13 July, at the Levinsky Seminar, in Tel Aviv.
The first day of the conference will include an evening session only, dedicated to Professor Bathja Churgin, on her 80th birthday.
The second day will feature the following three sessions:
1) Music in the World of Islam - in honor of Professor Amnon Shiloah, on his 80th birthday
2) Musical Education - in memory of Shulamit Feingold and Noa Blass
3) The Oeuvre of Joseph Haydn and his Generation
Proposed sessions or individual contributions may take one of the following forms:
1) Paper session - papers no longer than 20 minutes, to be followed by a 10-minute discussion (during second day of conference)
2) Panel discussion
3) Poster presentation
Abstracts (up to 250 words) for papers, workshops, panels, or posters, should be sent electronically to Dr. Bella Brover (msbrover at mscc.huji.ac.il), and Dr. Rivka Elkoshi (elkoshi at bezeqint.net).
Deadline for submission: 16 May, 2009
Award for Best Paper Delivered by a Student
In order to encourage the participation of students, the Society will award the best paper delivered by a student a monetary prize of 500 NIS, and will publish the prize-winning paper in the Society's journal, Min-ad. Considered will also be those who have earned their PhD in the last three years. Students wishing to be considered for the award must
submit the final version of their paper no later than 15 June, 2009.
