The University of Kansas Department of Music and Dance will host a Conference on 19th-Century Music from July 16 to 18, 2009, featuring presentations and performances from scholars across the United States and Canada. All interested scholars are invited to attend.

Among the highlights of the program are sessions devoted to Louis Spohr and Edward MacDowell; French opera, ballet and symphony; issues of word and music relationship; notable American musical personalities of mid-century; and questions of genre and musical tradition.
