ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - HISTORICAL MUSICOLOGY
Proposed Starting Date: August 16, 2009
Description: The School of Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks historical musicologist with teaching and research specializations in early modern music, ca.1550-1750. The successful applicant will complement and lend new direction to existing emphases within an interdisciplinary musicology program.
Duties: Demonstrating a record of professional excellence through innovative scholarship and publication; contributing to the teaching of a diverse curriculum for majors and non-majors, including topical, genre, and period courses in the area of specialization for undergraduate and graduate majors, and graduate seminars targeting specialized topics and contemporary issues in musicology; mentoring Ph.D. dissertations and D.M.A. theses and serving on committees.
Rank and Salary: Regular, full-time tenure-track position (pending budgetary approval); salary based on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Ph.D. must be completed by August 16, 2009. Evidence of scholarly excellence and strong commitment to teaching required. College-level teaching experience preferred.
