The Trinity College Department of Music in Hartford, Connecticut invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Composition commencing with the 2009-2010 academic year. Undergraduate teaching responsibilities include courses in composition and the Departments core courses in music theory. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or DMA. College-level teaching experience and proficiency with MIDI and digital music applications in creative and teaching settings are preferred. Teaching load is 2/2 for the first two years with a one-semester leave every fourth year. Competitive salary and benefits, plus a start-up expense fund.
Trinity College is a four-year, private liberal arts institution in an enviable metropolitan location, equidistant from New York City and Boston. The Department offers a music major and minor, and student performing opportunities that include choir, jazz, samba, and chamber music ensembles, musical theater, and an extensive private lessons program. The city of Hartford is the home of diverse cultural activities including a professional symphony orchestra, opera, ballet, theater, contemporary music ensembles, jazz clubs, and public celebrations held by the city's West Indian, Puerto Rican, and Brazilian communities.
