Assistant Professor
The School of Music of Butler University, Jordan College of Fine Arts, is inviting applications and nominations for Assistant Professor in Musicology, Tenure-track. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate Music History courses emphasizing the periods before 1800. Academic advising, student mentoring, advising masters theses, involvement in writing-intensive curricular offerings and service contributions, including committee participation are expected. Continuing excellence in teaching and scholarly activity is expected in order to qualify for reappointment, tenure, and promotion.
A completed Ph.D. in music history, with specialization in music before 1800, is required. A strong record of excellence in teaching college-level music history courses must be evident. A secondary emphasis in World Music is required.
