The Department of Music at the University of California, Irvine, is pleased to announce a faculty vacancy in musicology, broadly defined, with a primary research field in music since 1900. Scholars of originality and wide-ranging interests are encouraged to apply. Rank: Assistant Professor, tenure track. Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment begins July 1, 2009.
Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Applicants will be judged on their record of classroom teaching and their potential as active research scholars. Responsibilities include designing and teaching undergraduate courses for majors and non-majors and graduate seminars in music history, supervising graduate research, serving on departmental committees, advising students, and continuing original scholarly research and publication.
