NOTICE OF FACULTY VACANCY IN MUSICOLOGY
Beginning August 2009

POSITION: Scholar in Music of the United States

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor, tenure track; salary commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in musicology; promise of excellence in research, teaching, and advising at the graduate level

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Division of Musicology and Ethnomusicology of the University of Maryland School of Music (<http://www.music.umd.edu/faculty/music_directory/musicology_and_ethnomusicology/>www.music.umd.edu/faculty/music_directory/musicology_and_ethnomusicology/) seeks a scholar of exceptional promise or established reputation in the music of the United States with a broad knowledge of both concert and popular traditions. Preference may be given to applicants with a secondary specialty in modern European Music. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate surveys and to direct graduate seminars in their research
specialty. Other responsibilities will include supervision of theses and dissertations in musicology and ethnomusicology and service on School of Music and university committees.
