JOB: conductor/composer, Reed College

(The following job description probably fits very few musicologists, but we hope that some of you may know someone whom it does fit.  We'd be pleased to  hear about such people at the Nashville meeting.

The Department of Music of Reed College seeks a conductor/composer for a one-year sabbatical replacement with open rank.  Teaching responsibilities are a one-semester theory course, Advanced Harmony, at the second-year level (fall semester); a one-semester composition course (spring semester); the supervision of one to three senior theses in music composition or other areas; and two one-semester elective courses, open to non-majors, in areas of the instructor's expertise.  Conducting responsibilities are to direct rehearsals and performances of the Reed Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble of thirty to forty students, which rehearses twice each week and gives a concert each semester, sometimes in conjunction with the Reed Chorus. Applicants should have a DMA in conducting (or equivalent experience) and experience in composition and undergraduate teaching.
