SYRACUSE UNIVERSITYEthnomusicology.
Full-time, tenure-track appointment.
Assistant Professor. The Department of Fine Arts is an interdisciplinary
department housed in the College of Arts and Sciences offering degrees in
Music History and Cultures, Fine Arts, and the History of Art. We seek an
ethnomusicologist with a specialization in Latino and/or Latin-American
music. Teaching duties will include undergraduate courses in the
candidate's area of expertise as well as introductory world music courses.
In addition, the candidate will advise music history and cultures majors and
work with other faculty members to develop new cross-disciplinary programs
and projects. The successful candidate will show the potential for a
distinguished scholarly profile. Candidates with secondary interests in
popular music, performance studies and/or historical musicology are
especially encouraged to apply.
A Ph.D. in ethnomusicology must be
completed before the initial appointment date, and college-level teaching
experience is preferred. Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
