Dear colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce an interdisciplinary opera conference entitled "Opera and Society" to be held at Boston University on April 18-19 in the Marshall Room of the BU School of Music.  The conference will include eminent scholars from the US and Europe in musicology, music theory, history, and theater, in addition to a discussion among contemporary opera composers.  In conjunction with this event will be the BU Opera Institute's production of Rossini's "Barber of Seville": discounted tickets for that event and further information are available through the conference website: www.operaandsociety.org.
