The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering applicants for the position of Education Instructor. The Education Instructor reports to the Education Department Manager and is responsible for teaching the Museums K-12 educational programs, and performs a variety of administrative duties to assist in the efficient operation of the programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts educational programs for pre-K to 12th grade at the Museum and other sites including:
*In-Museum classes for students such as Rockin the Schools and On the Road (in front of and behind the camera), and educational programs such as tours and musical performances.
*Professional development opportunities for teachers including Summer Teachers Institute.
*Outreach programs for students including on-stage performances, assemblies, workshops and artist residencies.
2. Assists the Education Programs Manager with educational programs materials including:
*Upkeep of the education web site, including occasional creation of content, on an on-going basis.
*Proofreading of all educational materials
*Organization of all student/teacher materials
3. Assists the Education Coordinator with the day-to-day operations of the Education Department K-12 programming:
*Designs and maintains accessible filing system.
*Monitors and distributes pertinent correspondence.
*Coordinates educational mailings.
*Schedules meetings, travel, conferences/programs as necessary.
4. Prepares and maintains documents for presentation including:
*Reports, Educational Program Information, Educational materials for In-Museum programs, Letters/correspondence, Maintains Educational contact list and database, Power Point educational presentations
5. Other responsibilities include:
*Responds to routine public inquiries regarding Educational Programming.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
*A Bachelors degree in related field (music, education, museum education).
*A minimum of one (1) year professional experience in education, with preference given to those who have worked in a museum education department. *Ability to play an instrument in a support capacity for education programs is preferred.
*Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
*Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with educators and employees.
*Spoken knowledge of Spanish is also a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE:
*Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
*Ability to work additional hours as workload demands; Hours are primarily 8:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
