Chairman of Musicology / Ethnomusicology, Boston University 

The Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology at Boston University invites applications for the position of Chairman of the Department to commence on September 1, 2008. We seek a senior scholar of broad range and international reputation who is committed to the advancement of musicology and ethnomusicology within both a performing environment and the larger context of the humanities. In addition s/he should also be committed to excellence in teaching and have a demonstrated record of (or potential for) leadership in an academic environment. 

The Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology is in the College of Fine Arts but faculty also serve in the Department of Music in the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, teaching in the undergraduate program and in the MA and PhD programs. Featuring specialists in virtually all areas of musicology, the department is currently in an exciting and innovative stage of expansion and development, with a new undergraduate curriculum and the embracing of many new areas of inquiry.
