The Department of Music at Stanford University 
intends to make a three- year, fixed-term 
appointment in Musicology at the rank of acting 
assistant professor to begin Fall 2008.  This 
position is open to scholar-teachers in any field 
of specialization; applications are particularly 
encouraged from those with teaching and research interests in:

     *       20th-century music,
     *       American vernacular musics,
     *       17th- and 18th-century music, or
     *       non-Western or world musics.

Candidates will be expected to teach four courses 
per year; Stanford operates on the quarter 
system.  Ph.D. must be in hand at time of appointment.
