The Graduate Institute of Musicology of NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY invites applications to fill one full-time faculty position (three-year contract renewable).

We welcome applications from any scholars who can enhance and broaden the existing research profile of the institute, but are particularly interested in specialists in the following two areas: 1) musics of the Asia-Pacific region and/or Austronesia; and 2) popular music or film music studies. Chinese proficiency is preferred but not mandatory. Priority will also be given to applicants who demonstrate a broad perspective towards musicology, foster interdisciplinary and/or intercultural approaches, show a strong record or good potential in both teaching and research, and can help to promote exchanges between our institute and the international scholarly community.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate must teach graduate courses as well as undergraduate general education courses, guide student theses, and help with administrative responsibilities.

The appointment will begin on August 1, 2009.

Applicants should submit the following materials:
1) curriculum vitae (including list of publications)
2) statement of current research and teaching interests and long-term goals
3) sample syllabi
4) transcript of the highest degree
5) representative publications (no more than two items): a) published within the past three years b) exemplifies applicant's best scholarship c) an unpublished Ph.D. dissertation may be submitted if completed no more than three years ago
6) additional publications (no more than three items), published within the last five years
7) three letters of recommendation or contact information for three references
8) copy of Ph.D diploma; those who have not yet received the diploma at the time of application must provide a formal statement from the doctoral institution indicating that it will be in hand by the time of appointment
9) evidence of current position (if applicable)
