in association with MERTON COLLEGE and UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIP IN MUSIC

Applications are invited for this post, tenable from 1 October 2009 or as
soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment: the person
appointed to the University Lecturership (UL) will also be appointed to a
Tutorial Fellowship at Merton College and a Lecturership at University
College. The combined university and college salary will be on a scale up to
£56,917 per annum.

The University and the Colleges are seeking candidates with interests in any
area of musicology, particularly those concerned with music in its critical
and cultural contexts, and/or theory and analysis. The person appointed will
have the potential to enhance the high reputation of the Music Faculty in
research and teaching. He or she will have a proven record of scholarship
and research at a level of international recognition, or the clear promise
of such achievement. He or she will be required to provide a high standard
of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the
supervision of research students, and will be expected to play an active
role in faculty and college administration.
