CALL FOR PAPERS 

The Music Graduate Students Society (MGSS) of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University announces the call for papers for the 2009 McGill Music Graduate Symposium. 

Submission in all areas related to music, including but not limited to the following, will be considered: communications, composition, ethnomusicology, music cognition, music education, music technology, music theory, musicology, performance (including lecture-recitals), and sound recording. 

This year’s keynote speaker is Steve Waksman, Professor of Music and American Studies at Smith College in Northampton, MA.  Professor Waksman is the award-winning author of Instruments of Desire: The Electric Guitar and the Shaping of Musical Experience (Harvard, 1999). 

Abstracts (400-word max.) should be emailed to symposium at music.mcgill.ca by 16 January 2009. 

Papers should be approximately 20 minutes in length; lecture-recitals may be up to 40 minutes.

Applicants will be notified of the program committee’s decision via email by 02 February.
