The University of California, Davis seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of Music for a tenure track-position commencing July 1, 2009. Candidates must possess a Ph.D., D.M.A. or its equivalent, with significant orchestral conducting experience and marked potential for further development. Candidate should be familiar with a broad range of repertoires. Significant accomplishment as a conductor/teacher with a demonstrable record of performances, awards, recordings, and publications may substitute for a completed Ph.D. The successful candidate will 1) teach in the cycle of courses for majors in music, and offer appropriate other courses, including seminars at the undergraduate and graduate levels and courses for the general student; 2) accept substantial committee, advising, recruitment, and development responsibilities; 3) produce research and/or creative work appropriate for advancement within the University of California.
