American University invites applications for a full-time, one-year (potentially renewable) temporary position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Music beginning Fall 2008.
The successful candidate will be a performer and/or scholar with expertise in one or more of the following areas: ethnomusicology, jazz, popular music, and/or music education. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in music, advising students, participating in department service activities, and possibly directing an ensemble in the candidates area of specialty. Minimum qualifications: doctorate (or ABD) in any area of music, record of professional achievement, and at least two years of teaching experience at the college level.
