The University of Windsor School of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position in Music at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2008.  This position is subject to final budgetary approval.  
 
The University of Windsor School of Music is an undergraduate unit of approximately 160 majors, and is committed to learning-centered education, emphasizing the development of excellent musical, creative, and critical thinking skills. The successful candidate will have a completed doctoral degree in music by date of appointment.  The candidate will have expertise in areas such as popular music, music of other cultures, music in media, etc.  Strong research skills, publication record and track record of, or potential for, successful grant writing are expected, as is interest in interdisciplinary, collaborative pursuits.  Teaching responsibilities will involve a variety of courses within and outside the School of Music, while supporting the school's core curriculum.  The candidate will be a team player who is able to contribute effectively to our school with its focus on learning-centredness, diversity of musics, social justice, and engagement in community.  Duties also include serving on departmental and university committees. 
 
Applications will include:  
- a letter of application, including a statement of citizenship/immigration status;  
- a current curriculum vitae;  
- a research statement outlining research interests and potential for scholarly achievement;  
- a teaching dossier or evidence of teaching effectiveness  that might include sample course outlines or teaching evaluations; 
- a statement of teaching philosophy and interests;  
- samples of scholarly work;  
- graduate transcripts, if a recent PhD; and  
- three current letters of reference forwarded by the referees.
