Assistant Professor or Instructor in Music full-time, tenure-track, beginning August 18, 2008.  We seek a specialist in Music History who has enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students in a small, residential, liberal arts college that has been recognized nationally for its high academic quality.  Doctorate in Music by date of appointment preferred; ABDs in Music will be considered.  At least one year of college teaching experience is preferred.  Appointment will be as assistant professor with doctorate, or as instructor with ABD.  The latter must have doctorate in Music conferred by January 31, 2009 for reappointment.  

Excellence in teaching and a commitment to productive scholarship and/or creative activity are essential to gaining tenure and promotion.  Potential for academic leadership in a liberal arts setting will be considered.  The responsibilities of this position include teaching the music history sequence, an applied area, and other courses in music consistent with the needs of the university and with one's qualifications and experience.  The successful candidate must be committed to productive scholarship and/or creative activity, and to the programmatic development and establishment of a nationally recognized music program.  Service/outreach to the university, community, and profession is essential.  

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
