The School of Music at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning August, 2008. Job responsibilities include teaching courses in Music History and Music Appreciation, maintaining an active record of research and writing, involvement in appropriate professional organizations, and participation in advising and committee work. A doctorate in music history/musicology is required.  Interest in areas of popular music and interdisciplinary courses will be an asset to the position. The candidate must be committed to excellent teaching and have the ability to relate to students of various interests.

Candidates are to apply online at http://www.belmont.edu/hr/Employment/index.html. While completing the application, applicants will be prompted to submit a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae. In addition the candidate is asked to submit a writing sample showing recent writing and research.   Three current letters of recommendation, sent directly by the reference sources to the chair of the Musicology Search Committee, are required. The letters of reference should address the candidate's ability to fulfill the requirements of the position. Letters of reference will not be accepted by e-mail. Each applicant will be asked to respond to Belmont's mission, vision and values statements, articulating how the candidate's knowledge, experience and beliefs have prepared him/her to function in support of these statements.
