The University of California, Davis seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of Composition commencing July 1, 2008. The position is a nine-month appointment in the tenure track, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and previous experience. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or D.M.A., with significant compositional experience and marked potential for further development. Candidates who will have completed their doctoral degree by September 2008 will be considered.
We seek a person who is either a promising or an accomplished composer capable of teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate classes in their area of expertise and related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the cycle of courses for majors in music, and offer other courses for general students and seminars at the undergraduate major and graduate levels, accept substantial committee, advising, recruitment, and development responsibilities and produce research and/or creative work appropriate for advancement within the University of California.
