Announcing the 18th Annual Pacific Northwest Music Graduate Students Conference
January 11-12, 2008
University of Washington, Seattle, WA
Graduate students from around the country are invited to submit proposals for this annual regional conference, hosted alternatively by the University of Washington, University of Victoria, and University of British Columbia. We welcome a wide array of interdisciplinary topics, including, but not limited to: musicology, theory and analysis, ethnomusicology, composition, popular music, performance, philosophy and aesthetics, music education, music cognition, music criticism, etc. Non-traditional approaches, such as lecture-recitals or cross-disciplinary studies from non-music specialists, are certainly encouraged. Panel discussions will also be considered.
The conference will include a presentation by Cristle Collins Judd, noted music theorist and musicologist, in conjunction with the University of Washingtons Music Theory Colloquium Series.
Please submit abstracts of no more than 250 words by November 20, 2007. Accepted presenters will be notified by December 10. Presentation length should be 20-25 minutes for papers, 40-45 minutes for lecture-recitals, followed by a brief question and answer session.
