Midwest Graduate Music Consortium - 12th Annual Conference
University of Wisconsin - Madison, February 22 and 23, 2008
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Suzanne Cusick, Professor of Music, New York University
CALL FOR PAPERS: The program committee invites graduate and advanced undergraduate students to submit abstracts for papers related to musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, analysis, cognition, or any other topic concerning the study and practice of music. Abstracts should not exceed 500 words. Presenters will have twenty minutes to present their papers followed by a brief period for questions.
CALL FOR SCORES: The program committee invites composers currently engaged in graduate or advanced undergraduate studies to submit compositions for consideration in the programming of a new music concert taking place on Friday, February 22nd, 2008. The concert will be performed by musicians from the University of Wisconsin community, which includes players on most major instruments. No restrictions are placed on instrumentation or duration; however, shorter works for smaller ensembles are more likely to be programmed. Any composer who is able to provide his/her own players, especially if the work calls for specialized instrumentations, should indicate this in the cover letter.
SUBMISSIONS: Abstracts may be sent by either email or regular mail. Composers must submit one bound copy of the score by mail and may submit additional copies either as unbound scores by regular mail or by email. Composers may include a recording of the proposed composition, but this is not required. Bound scores will be returned to you only if you enclose a pre-paid, self-addressed envelope.
Submissions via email: please email your abstract or score (Word documents and PDF files only) to mgmc2008 at gmail.com. Be sure to include relevant information (name, contact information, institutional affiliation, title of paper or composition) in the email but not in the attachment to ensure anonymous evaluations. Email proposals must be received no later than November 25, 2007.
Submissions via regular mail: please send three copies of your abstract or score (composers, please see above) omitting your name and any other identifying marks, along with a cover letter providing your relevant information to:
Scott A Carter
MGMC Program Chair
1711 Jefferson St. Apt. 4

Proposals must be received with a postmark of no later than November 20, 2007.
