Announcement of a Faculty Position 

Position:  Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology, tenure-track 

      position beginning August 15, 2008. 

Description/Duties: The School of Music of the University of Kentucky seeks an ethnomusicologist to develop an ethnomusicology and world music program of national distinction.  Position responsibilities include the teaching of graduate courses and seminars, undergraduate surveys, and general education courses; supervising several world music performance ensembles, such as gamelan; and advising graduate theses and dissertations.  While the specific area of expertise is open, a focus in Asian Studies is desirable.  Candidates should demonstrate a record of successful teaching and the potential for active research and publication. 

Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in ethnomusicology by the starting date.   

Compensation: Salary is competitive. Benefits include health and retirement contributions.
