ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION - MUSIC IN GENERAL STUDIES
DIVISION OF MUSIC HISTORY, THEORY, AND ETHNOMUSICOLOGY
COLLEGE OF MUSIC, UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS
QUALIFICATIONS: Completed Ph.D. in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or Music Theory; evidence of teaching excellence, including teaching large classes for non-majors and awareness of most effective practices in teaching Music in General Studies; record of significant research and publication in area of disciplinary expertise; commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research. Expertise in other areas that complement the strengths of our faculty is desirable.
DUTIES: Teach at graduate and undergraduate levels in area of disciplinary expertise and in other areas, three courses per long semester. Coordinate activities in Music in General Studies, including teaching courses for non-majors, guiding the work of teaching fellows who teach such courses, and creating new courses. Advise graduate projects and participate on faculty committees. Conduct research and publish in area of specialization; research expectation will take into account the emphasis on teaching in the position description.
RANK: Full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
STARTING DATE: August 20, 2008
