The Lyrica Society for Word-Music Relations seeks to appoint two Liaison
Officers, to the Society for Ethnomusicology (www.sem.org) and to the National
Opera Association (www.noa.org). Both positions begin July 1, 2007 and are
non-stipendial; the appointments run for two years.

NATIONAL OPERA ASSOCIATION

Lyrica contributes two scholarly papers sessions that include lecture-recitals,
at the NOA's annual Convention each January, scheduled around the birthday of
Martin Luther King, Jr. The sessions focus, respectively, on African-American
and African Diasporic repertory. A third session, devoted to the
African-American choral tradition, is currently under review.

The Liaison Officer is responsible for extending Calls for Papers, deciding,
with other Liaison Officers, which should be accepted for presentation,
interfacing with the NOA Executive Board, speakers, and general organization of
the sessions. Membership in Lyrica, as well as receipt of our Newsletters and
journal, _Ars Lyrica_, are complimentary, and any expenses incurred for the
Lyrica Society are reimbursed.

Interested parties should contact Paul-André Bempéchat: pabempec at fas.harvard.edu
for further information.

SOCIETY FOR ETHNOMUSICOLOGY

The Liaison Officer to the SEM will succeed Dr. Kiri Miller of the University of
Alberta, who steps down June 30, 2007 after two years of loyal service.
Responsibilities of Liaison Officer to the SEM include informing the SEM
membership, by way of Calls for Papers, of our conference participations and
the appropriate handling of emails. The Liaison Officer receives complimentary
membership in Lyrica and receipt of our Newsletters and annual, peer-reviewed
journal, _Ars Lyrica_; all expenses incurred on behalf of the Lyrica Society
are reimbursed.

Interested parties may contact Dr. Miller as follows: kmmiller at ualberta.ca or
Dr. Paul-André Bempéchat: pabempec at fas.harvard.edu.

We look forward to hearing from you and remain,

Cordially,

THE LYRICA SOCIETY
Paul-André Bempéchat, President
