Musicology announces a full-time non-tenured one year (12 months)
position in Ethnomusicology, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to
begin 1 September 2007. Renewal of this one-year contract is possible
or anticipated. The successful candidate will be expected to teach (in
English) ethnomusicology at undergraduate and graduate levels, and
potentially teach in other areas of intellectual interest, preferably
History and Theory of Jazz, History and Theory of Popular Music, World
Music, "New Musicology" etc. for two semesters (from September to
June). We seek candidates who can contribute through their teaching,
service, and research to the diversity and excellence of the
Musicology Department and academic community at Palacky University,
founded in 1563. An appropriate doctorate or the equivalent is
required for this position. Palacky University in Olomouc is Equal

Salary: ca CZK 220.000-240.000 (ca $10.000-11.000) per year which is a
standard in the rank of assistant professor at Czech universities
Housing: fully equipped small apartment at the House of Professors
located in the center of the city (walking distance to the university)
for CZK 8.550 per month. Private accommodation for ca CZK 5000.
