Call for Papers
Following previous meetings in Colmar (France), Trento (Italy), Montpellier (France), Rotterdam (Holland) and Bristol (UK), the 6th European Music Analysis Conference will take place jointly at the Hochschule für Musik and the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg (Germany) from 1014 October 2007. Proposals for papers of 20 minutes duration are invited on any subject, but particularly in
connection with the following topics:
Analysis and performance practice
Text and music
The interpretation of new music
The notion of improvisation in the 18th century
Formenlehre (theory of form)
(Free papers)
Proposals of no more than 300 words (completed in English, French or German, and indicating clearly the category into which the intended topic falls) should be sent, either on disk or in e-mail form, to: Prof. Ludwig Holtmeier (Conference Director), Hochschule für Musik, Freiburg, Schwarzwaldstraße 141, 79102 Freiburg, LHoltmeier at onlinehome.de. Please note that the closing date for submissions is 15 July 2007.
The full programme will be announced towards the end of July 2007 and details will be posted on the conference website at www.gmth.de. The Conference is organised by the liaison group of European music analysis societies in association with the Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie (GMTH), the Gesellschaft für Musik und Ästhetik, the Hochschule für Musik and the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg.
