Please be aware of the following full-time position that has just become available at American University in Washington, D.C. We are happy to entertain applicants from musicology, music theory, or from any area of the discipline with the ability to teach in the listed areas. The committee has some flexibility in the specific courses to be assigned, so if you have recently completed or ABD student with teaching experience, please encourage them to apply. Review of materials will begin fairly soon, so even forwarding basic materials by e-mail (vita and cover letter) would be appropriate. FULL-TIME POSITION AT AMERICAN UNIVERSITY (WASHINGTON, D.C.)

The Department of Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University seeks a full-time, one year, temporary faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in Music for the 2007/08 academic year. Teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate general education courses in music, ear training for majors, survey courses in music history (classical and modern), student advising and mentoring, and participating in department service activities. A PhD, DMA or ABD degree and at least three years professional experience is required. The candidate may hold advanced degrees in any music area, and must show success and ability to effectively teach majors, minors, and non-majors in music.
