new MA opportunities and inform your students or
other 'interested parties' accordingly.

New MA options at the University of Sussex

MA in Music and MA in Opera and Music Theatre.
The MA in Music offers specialist pathways in
Film Composition, Studio Composition,
Composition, Analysis and Music and Critical
Thought. The MA in Opera and Music Theatre offers
the specialist pathway of Music Drama.

MA in Music (1 year full-time / 2 years part-time)

Full-time students undertake 2 taught courses per term.

Options available are:
Autumn Term: Musical Multi-Media 1; Music and
Critical Thought 1; Composition 1; Studio
Composition 1 and Composing for Film and Media 1;
Spring Term: Musical Multi-Media 2; Music and
Critical Thought 2; Composition 2; Studio
Composition 2 and Composing for Film and Media 2;
Summer Term and vacation: Dissertation or
Portfolio of Compositions, Film Compositions or Studio Compositions.

Autumn Term: Musical Multi-Media 1, Introduction to Practical Skills;
Spring Term: Musical Multi-Media 2, Practical Research Skills;
Summer Term and vacation: Performance Project.

Students undertaking the programme in the
history-theory mode will take other MA course
options instead of the practical components of the programme.
