CFP: NYS/SL Chapter of the AMS

The NYS/SL Chapter of the AMS is pleased to announce its annual meeting, which will be hosted by the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario on April 14 and 15, 2007. We invite proposals for papers, panel discussions, and other presentations on all subjects, but we particularly encourage proposals that concern popular music and identity. Presentations are normally limited to 20 minutes, but our by-laws also allow for longer (40-minute) presentations. If you wish to be considered for these longer presentations, please make this clear in your submission. Papers may be delivered in either English or French.

Submissions (in either English or French) should include an abstract, indicating the scope of research, methodology and conclusions of the paper to be given. This abstract may be up to 500 words long, although shorter abstracts of 250 words or less are also welcome. Submissions should also include the title of the paper and the author's name, along with his/her institutional affiliation (if appropriate). The Chapter awards a prize for the best paper delivered by a graduate student; please also indicate if you are eligible. According to our by-laws, all those who present papers at our meeting must be members both of the NYS/SL Chapter and of the national AMS.

We would prefer to receive submissions as e-mail attachments in Microsoft Word, although we will also accept them via surface mail. Send e-mail to
