The University of New Hampshire and the American Brahms Society present:

BRAHMS and MEMORY
A one-day symposium
Saturday, April 12, 2008, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Paul Creative Arts Center, Room M-223
University of New Hampshire
Durham, NH

Free and open to the public.

Papers will be presented on various aspects of memory (nostalgia, historicism, cultural tradition, etc.) as they pertain to Johannes Brahms’s music and its reception.  Presenters include: Daniel Beller-McKenna (UNH), Robert Eshbach (UNH), Marjorie Hirsch (Williams College), Tobias Huenermann (UNH/University of Cologne); Benjamin Korstvedt(Clark University), Ryan Minor (SUNY Stony Brook), and Jacquelyn Sholes (Brandeis University).  The symposium website (brahms.unh.edu/memory.htm) is on-line and will become functional over the holidays.
