CLARK UNIVERSITY - Music Theory/Composition

A full-time, tenure-track position in Music Theory/Composition at the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2008.  Ph.D. or D.M.A required by time of employment. Candidate should have a strong professional commitment to teaching music creatively in a liberal arts context. The candidate should be prepared to teach an undergraduate music theory sequence as well as topics in contemporary music. Secondary areas of academic interest might include Jazz theory and composition, American music, or non-Western music.  Also important will be the potential to collaborate with other Visual and Performing Arts faculty in designing interdisciplinary arts courses and/or the ability to participate in the University interdisciplinary programs, such as Communication and Culture. 

Application deadline:  November 1, 2007 or until filled.  Submit letter of application, c.v., the syllabus of a relevant course and/or a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters or recommendation to: Benjamin Korstvedt, Chair, Music Search Committee, Clark University, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Worcester, MA 01610.  No additional materials are required at this time.
