NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: Music History (Tenure Track)

QUALIFICATIONS:
    PhD in Historical Musicology.
    Specialization in music after 1600.
    Evidence of successful college-level teaching.
    Established record of research in musicology and potential for continued scholarly activity.
    Secondary area (e.g. ethnomusicology, women?s studies) helpful.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Teaching three courses per semester.  Primary teaching responsibilities will come from courses in the following areas: core undergraduate history courses (introduction and sequence); graduate methods and topics courses; upper-level literature courses (symphonic, chamber, and contemporary).
    Maintaining active research and publication profile.
    Collegial participation in departmental, college and university activities and governance.
    Contribution to the department?s recruitment and retention goals.

RANK: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track

SALARY:    Commensurate with rank and experience.


THE UNIVERSITY:    The University of Delaware is a private, state-assisted research university, enrolling approximately 20,000 students.  The city of Newark, with a population of approximately 30,000 is located in northeastern Delaware, fourteen miles southwest of Wilmington, the principal city of the state.  Students and faculty have easy access to cultural events in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

THE DEPARTMENT:    The Department of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. We offer the Bachelor of Music degrees in Applied Music, Music Education, and Theory and Composition; the Bachelor of Arts with a major in music and concentration in Music Management and Master of Music degrees in Performance, teaching and Composition.  The Department comprises 60 full- and part-time faculty and professionals.  The Department of Music enrolls approximately 340 undergraduate majors, 
minors, and graduate students.
