Abstracts are being accepted for the Fall Meeting of the Capital Chapter of the American Musicological Society, which is being held on Saturday 29 September at the University of Maryland, College Park. Please submit abstracts of no more than 500 words to Andrew H. Weaver, chair of the Chapter, via email at weavera at cua.edu, preferably as an attachment in Microsoft Word. The deadline for abstracts is Wednesday 12 September.

This year's meeting will feature a keynote address by Deborah Schwartz-Kates, Associate Professor and Chair of the Musicology Department at the University of Miami, entitled "Ginastera in Washington: Correspondence with Copland, Seeger, and Spivacke at the Library of Congress." In honor of our guest speaker, the afternoon session will be devoted to Ibero-American music and will conclude with a roundtable discussion entitled "Interdisciplinary Approaches to Ibero-American Music." We therefore invite paper proposals on any aspect of Ibero-American music to be considered for the afternoon session. We also, of course, invite paper proposals on any topic for our morning sessions.

Following AMS guidelines, papers should not exceed 30 minutes. The abstract should summarize the argument and line of reasoning to be presented in the paper and explain how the research findings contribute to or change current scholarly thinking.

The AMS Capital Chapter encompasses the District of Columbia, Maryland, and parts of Virginia and West Virginia. However, members of the American Musicological Society who live outside the geographical boundaries of the Chapter can submit papers for our meetings provided that they also submit an application for Chapter membership and pay dues before they present at the meeting. More information about membership is available on the Chapter website: http://www.ams-net.org/chapters/capital/
