Tristan Sessions at the 2008 Medieval Congress

The Tristan Society is pleased to announce the following sessions for the 43rd International Congress on Medieval Studies, 8 to 11 May 2008:

* Deconstructed Tristan: Multiple Literary Manifestations of Tristan

* Tristan Scholarship: Present Standards and Future Goals (A Panel Discussion)

These sessions offer an opportunity to explore the Tristan story and Tristan studies from an interdisciplinary and cross cultural perspective. Literature is the focus of the first session, with latitude to investigate various adaptations and adaptors of the Tristan story in literature.

The panel discussion concerning Tristan scholarship is the first session in many years that focuses on the level of research on this subject, current trends, and new directions. This session will include various national traditions, the humanities, and source study. This panel is intended to result in a series of articles that will be published in a special issue of the journal Tristania that will focus on the accomplishments and needs of scholarship on Tristan studies.
