The IAML Sydney 2007 Organizing Committee invites you to come on down to
the forthcoming annual conference of the International Association of
Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres in Sydney,
Australia. This is Australia's first ever International Association of
Music Libraries Conference and it's on from 1st to 6th July 2007.
It's an exciting 5 - 6 day programme with plenty of opportunities for
you to meet up and mix with hundreds of music librarians from around the
world. As well as musicians, A/V librarians, music archivists,
musicologists, and music dealers and publishers, and many of your
colleagues, and all in a very pleasant and stimulating environment, the
purpose-built Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The venue is in the
historic centre of the city, on the edge of the Botanical Gardens, a
short walk from the Opera House and beautiful Sydney Harbour.
The very full program emphasises the Australian context but is truly
international in scope. The social program and concerts are designed to
introduce delegates to Australian music and culture. The
post-Conference tour takes delegates to Canberra, Australia's capital
for a two-day tour of the significant music institutions there. The
deadline for early bird registration is the 30th April. So check out
the program on the website at www.iamlaust.org/sydney.htm,
download the registration form and send off your
application with payment details to the address you'll find there as
soon as you can. (If you've let your IAML membership lapse, renew your
national membership now, see www.iaml.info/en/national_branches and
check out the visa requirements).
Your country needs very good representation at Australia's inaugural
International IAML Conference. So tell all your music / library
colleagues and acquaintances and encourage them to join you for a week
in Sydney in July. We're having the biggest roll-up ever of music
library people in Australia at this Conference.
Sincerely,
Murray Scott,
Publicity, IAML Sydney 2007
