Position: Assistant Professor of Musicology, with a subspecialty in Ethnomusicology
Appointment date: August, 2007
Responsibilities:
Teach in the following areas:
undergraduate music history survey.
upper level course in twentieth century music and culture.
graduate music history course and/or undergraduate liberal studies courses in non-western music.
upper level music history courses as needed.
Teach and coordinate music course offerings for non-majors.
Collaborate with departmental team regarding curriculum development and evaluation in the academic area (music history, music theory, composition, and aural skills) and recruitment of music history students.
Remain active as a scholar.
Serve as an academic advisor for department undergraduate students.
Complete other duties, as assigned, according to the candidates qualifications and departmental needs.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Musicology, with emphasis on the common practice and 20th-century repertoire and culture.
Subspecialty in ethnomusicology.
Other subspecialties may include jazz, popular music, or gender studies.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level to music majors and non-majors.
Interest in teaching in a liberal arts environment.
Demonstrated scholarly activity.
Rank and Salary:
Assistant Professor, tenure-track position.
Salary commensurate with experience.
