Wheaton College, a small, highly selective liberal arts college in Norton, Massachusetts, announces a full-time, tenure-track position for a Western European musicologist/College Organist with ability to teach music theory.  

This faculty member will teach courses in Western European music history and literature, music theory, counterpoint, and the college-wide First Year Seminar program. The College Organist component of the position includes playing organ, harpsichord and piano in a variety of musical situations, including organist for campus ceremonies and events, rehearsal accompanist for Wheaton College Chorale, keyboardist for Great Woods Chamber Orchestra concerts, accompanist for voice and instrumental juries and student recitals. The College Organist also teaches organ and harpsichord students as needed and oversees instrument maintenance for the Wheaton Organ (Casavant 1969, 39 stops, 53 ranks). Doctorate required by date of appointment.  The position will commence August 1, 2006 with an initial two-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
