Position: Assistant Professor of Musicology / Ethnomusicology (tenure track position)
 
Appointment: Appointment begins September 1, 2007.
 
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Western music history. Supervise Master's theses. Develop courses in Latin-American music in conjunction with a future doctoral program. Maintain an active research agenda. Other responsibilities as determined by departmental needs. Work collegially with other members of the music faculty to further the mission of the School of Music. 
 
Qualifications: Completed doctorate required. Teaching experience at the college level. Evidence of scholarly activities. A specialization in Latin American music is preferred. Experience in the supervision of Master's theses or doctoral dissertations is desired. 
 
Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
 
University and School:  Texas State University-San Marcos currently enrolls about 27,000 students, who may choose from over 114 undergraduate and over 85 graduate degree programs, including six doctoral programs offered by seven colleges.  The School of Music is part of the College of Fine Arts and Communication and offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music as well as Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education, Performance, Sound Recording Technology, and Jazz Studies. Master of Music degrees are offered in Music Education, Conducting, Performance, Theory, Composition, and Music History/Literature.  All degree programs are accredited by NASM.  There are 32 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 27 non-tenure-track faculty teaching approximately 550 undergraduate and graduate music majors.
