CALL FOR PAPERS
2007 Annual Meeting,
South-Central Chapter, American Musicological Society
Deadline: Friday, December 1, 2006
The South Central Chapter of the American Musicological Society
(AMS-SC) is pleased to announce its 2007 Annual Meeting in Athens,
Georgia, to be held jointly with Music Theory Southeast (MTSE) and
the Society for Ethnomusicology Southeast and Caribbean Chapter
(SEMSEC) on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17, hosted by the Hugh
Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia.
Proposals for presentations, special sessions, papers with a
performance component, and panel discussions are solicited on any
topic related to historical musicology. Presentations will be limited
to twenty minutes. The Program Committees encourages proposals that
address traditional music of the South and independent/progressive rock.
Submissions should include the following:
1. An abstract with a maximum limit of 250 words, suitable for
publication. Abstracts should be concise but thorough, and should
indicate clearly the scope of research, methods, and conclusions.
They should also appear in a format suitable for direct publication
in the abstract booklet. Include title, centered at the top of the
page and, at bottom right, author's name and institutional
affiliation or place of residence. A letter from an adviser or other
faculty member verifying student status should accompany each
abstract submitted by a student. Students whose abstracts are
selected by the Program committee will be eligible to compete in the
Rey M. Longyear Student Paper Competition. This award, given in
memory of Professor Longyear, will be awarded at the chapter meeting.
2. A cover letter providing the title of the proposal, author's name,
address, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, phone number, and
any necessary AV equipment.
Submission Instructions
Electronic submission: Email attachments in Microsoft Word format are
preferred. Please be sure to send abstract and cover letter as two
separate files. All submissions via email should be sent no later
than midnight, December 1, 2006. Email proposals to Ron.Pen at uky.edu
Surface Mail Submission: All submissions by surface mail should be
postmarked by Friday, December 1, 2006. Please submit six copies of
both abstract and cover letter. Send mail to:
