University of Toronto Scarborough 
 

The Department of Humanities, University of Toronto Scarborough, invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Musicology within the Visual and Performing Arts discipline. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor and will commence July 1, 2007. We are seeking a dynamic candidate with broad interests who specializes in one or more areas of music before 1830 and who can offer innovative approaches to this repertoire in an interdisciplinary and multi-cultural environment. An interest in teaching in one of the following areas would be an additional recommendation: Gender Studies, Jazz History, Film Music, Music and New Technology. 

The Visual and Performing Arts discipline at UTSC includes art history, visual art studio, drama, music, and arts management. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional scholarly promise and will be interested in pushing historical, theoretical, and critical ideas beyond conventional boundaries. In addition s/he will be prepared to teach a range of undergraduate music courses, will collaborate with other VPA faculty in offering interdisciplinary courses, and will teach and supervise graduate students in the Graduate Department of Music. 

Completed PhD and clear evidence of excellence in both research and teaching required. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
