CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY
SCHOOL OF MUSIC
POSITION
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MUSIC IN THEORY. Full-time, 10-month, tenure-
track position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Doctoral degree in music theory or related area (ABD
candidates considered),
successful college teaching experience, and qualifications to teach in
related areas.
Preferred: College-level teaching experience in related areas, ability
to teach courses in
musicology, and established program of research and scholarly activity.

DUTIES
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, aural
skills, counterpoint,
musicology, and related areas;
• Assist with School of Music student recruitment initiatives;
• Teach in other music areas subject to the candidate's expertise and
the needs of the
School of Music;
• Maintain an active research, creative, and service agenda commensurate with
standards of a Carnegie doctoral/research-intensive institution.

APPOINTMENT
August 15, 2007.

SALARY

GENERAL INFORMATION
Serving 28,000 students, Central Michigan University is an innovative
doctoral/research-
intensive institution recognized for strong undergraduate education
and a range of
focused graduate programs and research. The School of Music is located
in a new, state-
of-the-art 119,000 square foot facility with a 500-seat concert hall
housing a 61-rank
Casavant organ, a 100-seat recital hall, MIDI technology labs,
recording facilities, music
resource center, and 79 practice rooms. The School of Music has 42
full- and part-time
faculty and an enrollment of over 550 majors and minors. Additional
