CALL FOR PAPERS

Music Graduate Students' Symposium
Schulich School of Music
McGill University, Montreal
March 9 to 11, 2007

The Music Graduate Students' Society of McGill University is pleased to
announce a call for papers for its 2007 Graduate Students' Symposium.
Pierre Daniel Rheault, President of the Society of Composers, Authors, and
Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) and Guest Professor at the Schulich
School of Music, will be the keynote speaker.  Please post this notice in
your department and forward it to any music graduate students who might be
interested in participating.

McGill's symposium is dedicated to fostering research in all areas of
music.  We encourage presentations on topics from the fields of
musicology, music theory, ethnomusicology, music education, composition,
music technology, sound recording, music cognition, and performance (in
the form of lecture-recitals).

Papers should be approximately 20 minutes, and lecture recitals may be up
to 30 minutes.  A 10-minute question period will follow each presentation.

Proposal abstracts should be submitted electronically by Friday, January
19, 2007.  Please note the following instructions for submission:

1.  Attach your abstract (300-400 words) as a Word document without
personal identification.

2.  Incorporate your abstract (300-400 words) into the body of the email
along with your name, address, telephone number, and academic affiliation.

3.  In the subject field of your email, please write: �Symposium Abstract
Submission.

4.  Include in your email any special equipment (e.g. overhead projector,
stereo) you will require for your presentation.

Abstracts should be suitable for publication in the symposium program.
All abstracts will be judged anonymously.
